Memory

Someone once asked me, “why do you look down all the time?”

I replied, “I feel as though I am not worthy to look straight ahead of me.”

“Instead of looking down or straight in front of you, why don’t you look up?” They spoke.

As I did,
The scenic sky etched its way inside my mind.
An evening breeze brushing against me.
Everything about this moment, fell right into place.
It’s as it should’ve always been.

“I never noticed this beauty before. Limitless.” I whispered.
I reached my hand out as though I could try to claim it all for myself.

They chuckled,
“As long as you see the sky for what it is, there’s no need to look down anymore.”
So said a shadow of a memory, I have long ago forgotten.
