Man at 2000

Mathew L. Hunt 1973 (Los Alamitos, CA)

Years have come and years will go.
There is no greater truth I know.

Man has built the mighty sword,
But could not bear the awesome blow.
There are far too many on board,
And their numbers continue to grow.

The discoveries of the past are many,
And thus so are the problems created.
A milestone, and the celebrations are plenty,
But do we have reason to be elated?

Millions suffer while millions thrive.
With all the passengers, who can drive?
Should we not do more than survive
To truly know how great it is to be alive?

History is full of lessons to learn,
Yet we continue to ignore and burn.
The ultimate resolution will not save
The lives of billions who must be brave.

Many live have come and many will go.
When it will end, I do not know.
