AS I AM

Barry Green Jr 1973 (Florida)

AS I AM

Here I am, Lord, take me as I am
Weak in flesh, but spiritually willing
Lost, alone I'm destined to be damned
Send me strength, Lord, in your healing

Once I wandered, so strong I thought
No power could rise against me
Through the battles I vainly fought
Battered and beaten pretending I was free

Look at me, my God! Oh how the mighty fell!
Here I stand, on legs battered and bruised
Broad is the highway leading to Hell
²But your Cross lifts those who freely choose

I wish I could say, that the giant I did slay
But I was small in the Land of giants
They only fell when I started to pray
On you, my Lord, alone am I reliant

I've learned my lessons on the shrapnel of pride
God, such a fool I've chosen to be
If I stand, may I stand at Your side
For those indeed are free, whom the Son sets free!

Here I am, Lord, take me as I am
Bind my wounded heart in love
Take me, all that I am, weak as I am
Lift me on eagles wings above

As...
...i...
...am...
All...
....I....
...am...
Is Yours

AMEN

About this poem

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11 28-30
