KILLING MY OLD SELF

Barry Green Jr 1973 (Florida)

KILLING MY OLD SELF

He interrupts my talk
He disrupts my walk
So I sat and took stock
I'll see Him outlined in chalk

I'm tired of his constant lie
Always whining, asking why
Fed up with his fake cry
My old man has got to die

My old man taught me the game
Told me to revel in my shame
But now nothing is the same
I'm a new man by Jesus's name

I'm here to make a stand
The new me killing my old man
Crucify him daily I can
Day after day I kill my old man

My old man tries to take me down
Wants to throw me to the ground
But God's Grace does abound
So I take, this fool down

The old man, he won't obey me
If he could ya know he'd slay me
So now I'm killing him daily
When I wake,  and when to bed I lay me

Hey old man. I ain't scared of you
You ain't telling me what to do
I'm set free, and born anew
Evil old man, you are through!

I'm here to make a stand
The new me killing my old man
Crucify him daily I can
Day after day I kill my old man

This old man, he plays four
Comes knock, knock, knocking on my door
But you know I ain't playing no more
Pow! I knock that sucker out on the floor!

I can't let you free to roam
Like a rabid dog you foam
This old man won't be rolling home
66 rounds straight to the dome!

The old man drowns in the Flood
Of my Savior's precious Blood
I rise where he lies in the mud
The new man rises in Salvation's flood

I'm here to make a stand
The new me killing my old man
Crucify him daily I can
Day after day I kill my old man

The old man is like a Lion
To devour he's always tryin'
But I'm in the life, he is dyin'
I stand in truth, he is lyin'

Patty- cake. Patty-cake foolish old man
Running away as fast as he can
Kick him so hard, he can't stand
Come and kill this old man

My old man's on death row
Dying so the new man can grow
Through prayer the old man must go
So in the new the Spirit can flow

I'm here to make a stand
The new me killing my old man
Crucify him daily I can
Day after day I kill my old man
AMEN
