A Place For Me (Jewel Edition)

A Place For Me (Jewel Edition)
There is a place, inside my mind,
Where the birds do frolic and monkeys are kind,
This is a place of the darkest, onyx caves,
Beautiful stalactite and diamond tidal waves,
Alexandrite colored flowers,
And endless superpowers,
Emerald the leaves, that lace the trees,
Amber and agate the bumblebees,
Jasper tree trunks, lined with emerald grass,
This is the place that you shall not pass,
For all that is needed, is right under foot,
The place in which you came; is engulfed in soot,
This place is so fancy, yet so very humble,
Hop over the fallen tree; impossible to stumble,
Look down quick into that hole,
Residence of rabbit or perhaps a mole,
When you do look, and look yes you shall,
For captivating is the unknown; unknown your new pal,
Follow him deep within this massive earth,
See the marks on doorframe that his Mum made from birth,
You think to yourself “why journey from paradise?
To a place full of rats, badgers and mice?”
For the journey is tedious and so very long,
But the journey is what makes a weak man so strong,
Days had passed as I followed mister mole,
Far deep into his darkened, onyx, mole hole,
Just as I wondered if the end was quite near,
Did mister mole quickly say “my friend; we are here”
The end of the cave ended upon a great cliff,
I knew how to get down though, and my heart did sure lift,
I took a large leap and landed in liquid gold,
Not at all hot to the touch, and so blatantly old,
I then made my way slowly, so slowly, to the bank,
I climbed upon the shore with a ladder of planks,
I noticed ahead another dark onyx cave,
A place for the mighty; a place for the brave,
I picked up a torch; which was already lit,
I made my way through a boggy and rancid old pit,
Arriving at the other side; I just cannot say,
What splendor and beauty, I did see that day,
The biggest trees that I ever did see,
The mightiest waterfall; and it all was for me,
The beach was glistening; for it was made of gold flakes,
That leaded to a beautiful, diamond filled lake,
There was an island, made up of beautiful pearls,
Even though I was happy; my mind sure did swirl,
I walked upon the golden shore,
In hopes of finding a secret door,
But why would I leave this much, majestic of place?
It was at that point that I felt the look on my face,
I looked around three-hundred and sixty degrees,
I realized right then, that this place truly does free,
This place was perfect and yes there was much light,
Which I did not understand, for no sun was in sight,
Peckish I was, so I walked directly to the trees,
To the place of genius koalas and the friendliest bees,
I looked up to the sky; that consisted of sapphires,
I looked down the beach at the ruby-red campfires,
All that I’d ever needed was in this prime place,
My entire life I’d been chasing this place in disgrace,
A place of the most brilliant yellow-citrine,
A place in my mind, where I do reign supreme,
This place never looks, even a bit, like black opal,
For even one foot in this place, can be construed as quite hopeful,
The trees all bear fruit, for the monkeys to eat,
A sight directly above; of perfect eagles was sure a treat,
Peckish indeed; still yes, I sure was,
I wanted something tasty; not just something because,
The first tree I arrived at, offered oranges made of hessonite,
Next; the goldest sapphire bananas, to my epic delight,
I then saw a vine, so I followed it to its best,
I found diopside grapes and a big treasure chest,
My heart then quickly but gradually had started to race,
I pondered what was in it; for I’m already in love with this place,
I lifted the lid, just a half inch or so,
Then the wind picked up and really started to blow,
It was as if a sign or a spirit was telling me, not to open the chest,
It didn’t even require a key; this must be a test,
Curious inside; as I always have been,
Inside that chest; I wish I had never seen,
For when I opened the lid; all the way up,
A noise came from inside; like someone had dropped a glass cup,
At that instant; my paradise had gone away,
For I had awoken; but I’ll be back another day…
