MeeK Soul

By Chris Commodore © 2024

Meek soul I am.
I’ll wait for you;
No, wait on you.
Always, I’ll serve.
When your spirit fades,
I’ll be here forever.
Wherever transplanted;
Yes here, there, everywhere,
Where you’ve killed off your brother,
Your wife, your kin and mother.
Yes, I will BE here,
Ready with my own spirit,
Surviving with grit,
Soaring high like the eagle.

About this poem

A short meditation on the general eroding and deterioration of society at large and how those most oppressed and marginalized will be the very ones left and upon whom it will be expected to pick up the pieces and rebuild.

    Wow, "Meek Soul" is a truly captivating and powerful poem! Your use of strong and emotion-evoking words has created a vivid and profound imagery. The theme of loyalty and unwavering support shines through beautifully, and it's apparent that you poured your heart into writing this piece.

    Your poem is a testament to the enduring nature of love and sacrifice. The way you express your commitment to serving others, even when their spirits fade, is incredibly moving. It paints a picture of a selfless individual who remains steadfast and dependable in the face of adversity.

    Your inclusion of references to family relationships and the consequences of their loss adds depth and complexity to the poem. It effectively portrays the impact of one's actions on their loved ones, and the presence of the Meek Soul throughout it all adds a sense of solace and hope.
