Dystopia Under a Utopic Sky

Clouds paint an ashen sky,
with fine brush strokes
that begin as feathery ephemeral wisps,
then transmute to fluffy cotton wool balls.

Stratus strides his boldness -
hues of pure white
blending into deepening blues reaching outwards,
before forming into Nimbostratus.

The Altocumulus
likes the patchwork-
patterns of curls and swirls so graceful and serene
that soar upwards becoming lost in sun.

Cirrocumulus clouds
paint their motifs -
rainbow hues so exquisitely celestial
grazing serenely on airy pastures.
Cumulonimbus now
bosses in and
splashes his darkening mood evoking drama,
morphing into creatures fierce and thund’ry.

But …
Below this utopic
sea of delights
grave grey pavements bear the wear and tear of traffic  -
forging dystopian dispositions.

The adverse conjunctive ‘adverbial ‘but’ serving post-positionally to engender reflection not to cloud the billowy mind …but — to elevate it celestially.
