Watching Shows (Back In The Days)

Watching Shows (Back In The Days)
By Robert T. Davenport

Ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters, gather 'round,
For today, we shall reminisce about a time profound.
A time when families gathered 'round the TV screen,
To watch shows like TGIF, oh what a dream!

We'd tune in to The Cosby Show, with its lovable clan,
The Huxtables, teaching us life lessons, oh so grand.
We'd laugh at Theo's antics, and Rudy's cute charm,
And wonder if Cliff's sweaters could do any harm.

Then there was A Different World, a show so cool,
With Dwayne and Whitley, attending Hillman School.
We'd cheer for their love, through ups and downs,
And hope that their relationship would come around.

Family Matters brought us the Winslow family,
With Steve Urkel, the nerdy neighbor, oh so zany.
We'd laugh at his catchphrases, "Did I do that?"
And wonder if he'd ever win Laura's heart, that's a fact.

And who could forget Full House, with the Tanner crew,
Danny, Uncle Jesse, and Joey, too.
We'd watch as they navigated life's ups and downs,
And wonder if they'd ever stop clowning around.

Oh, those were the days, gathered with family near,
Laughing and bonding, shedding a tear.
We'd debate if Steve Urkel would ever get his chance,
To win Laura's heart, in a true romance.

But let us not forget, my dear congregation,
That these shows were just a small part of our salvation.
For it was the love and laughter shared with kin,
That truly made those moments, a heavenly win.

So let us cherish those memories, oh so dear,
Of watching shows together, year after year.
And may we continue to gather, as a family strong,
Creating our own sitcom, where love and laughter belong.

And as we go forth, let us remember the joy,
Of watching TGIF, with every girl and boy.
For in those moments, we found solace and delight,
And created memories that shine ever so bright.

So let us give thanks, for those shows of the past,
And the love and laughter they brought, unsurpassed.
For in the end, it's the bonds we create,
That truly make life's sitcom, a heavenly fate.
