In the palm of your hand.
I had open heart surgery, and you held my heart in the palm of your hand. I can still hear. The echoes of it beating did it make you feel grand. My heart was not happy, I know, because your monitor told me so. I can feel the pounding in my chest with every beat and every minute. Can you please just finish? Now I have to bear that scar for life. It's just not right. The people talk, point, and stare; it's just one of many things I have to bear. Do you really care?
About this poem
I had an aneurysm in my heart and they had to take it out so there is a scar on my heart and chest.
