Under the Stars

Lying next to you under the stars.
Hearing softest whispers in the breeze.
Sweetest dreams erasing daylight scars.
Peaceful mind embracing all it sees.

Hearing softest whispers in the breeze. Moonlight casts its glow in summer air.
Peaceful mind embracing all it sees.
Special are these moments that we share.

Moonlight casts its glow in summer air.
Joyously I watch you as you sleep.
Special are these moments that we share.
Pockets full of memories to keep.

Joyously I watch you as you sleep.
Sweetest dreams erasing daylight scars.
Pockets full of memories to keep.
Lying next to you under the stars.

About this poem

This is a Pantoum. It is a poem with 4 line stanzas in which lines 2 and 4 of one stanza become lines 1 and 3 of the next. This pattern continues throughout the poem. In the last stanza, lines 1 and 3 of first stanza become lines 2 and 4, in reverse order, so that poem begins and ends with the same line. Also every other line must rhyme. I’ve written only a few because honestly it’s a challenge. But if you like challenges, try it.

Gisela Vigil

Thank you for welcoming me to this community. I was born in Cuba but emigrated with my family to the US when I was three. I am mother to three young adults now, and also a grandmother. I’ve been writing for years, some I share, others I still keep in my personal file. I often write of struggles for we all face them as we journey through life. But still, I feel peace knowing I try my best. Feel blessed to have been given the gift of writing which I strive to improve cause there’s always room for growth. more…
