Avoid That Bait

By Chris Commodore© August, 2021

Those charming, glittering, guiding lures perhaps
Are dupes to taint your merry life, O craps!
For just a little while, no rush just wait
But just for now, avoid all wily bait

That dangle everywhere in every gate;
There’s naught to gain but for to seal your fate.
In penury to likely spend your days,
Extant on scraps along life’s taxing ways

At natal stage, a perfect specimen!
Endowed with promise, grace, and acumen.
Computerized to chase and grab the sun,
And twirl the cosmos far in brazen fun.

Equipped to conquer looming hostile pain,
To craft your future moon, your sun, your rain;
To chase and tame a galloping universe,
Not ever made to ride life in reverse.

Just look around and see the towering halls,
With bounteous data stacked to crush all walls,
Gratis, go in and daily gorge your brains,
And be equipped to tame life’s hurricanes.

Such as this dirtied world contains and hurls,
Where lies are truth, but truth no value holds;
And everywhere deceivers seek to rule,
Impervious to shame and ridicule.

They claim deceit, lamenting to the skies;
Much raucous noise that echo gaudy lies,
To redact choice across the universe,
And set a stage for life spent in reverse.

Vile plans to heil tyranny at all cost,
To warrant souls repressed and tempest tossed.
May vessels rise that sport titanium sails
To ensure life choose heads and never tails.

About this poem

A subtle meditation on how easy it is to be duped by the plethora of raging debates out there in every field of endeavor. So many seems more traps to elicit blind decisions and actions by so many unsuspecting victims.
