BREAKING THROUGH

I want to launch my life among the stars,
Though my doubts and fears jail me,
I want to live today without yesterday's bars.

Boxes of expectations each full of sorting jars,
I maneuver out of one and into another,
I want to launch my life among the stars.

Doom echoes of brain published memoirs,
I hear them like today was yesterday,
I want to live today without yesterday's bars.

Feels as though I was born behind these bars,
Then the stars shine through this darkness and I know,
I want to launch my life among the stars.

The dreams they categorically killed were my pillars,
I mourned them but now I feel them illuminating,
I want to live today without yesterday's bars.

Sang my frailty as they borrowed my shine to reach mars,
Today is here and I know the strength of my wings,
I want to launch my life among the stars.
I want to live today without yesterday's bars.

About this poem

This is of the poems I'm most proud of. It's about overcoming your fears and doubs, wherever they may be coming from, to reach your dreams. It's what I'm doing right now, speaking positivity and moving even when I'm scared.
