"Winter's Arrival: An Ode to the Changing Seasons"
While the fields with ripening harvest
In the brightest sunshine bask
Through the windows around the house
For summer is gone and the days grow cold
With tender sky and wild geese sailing by
From dewy lanes in morning
To the glowing sunset on eves
With gusty wind which foretaste yields
Hurrying rustle of crisp leaves
Feel the winter coming in
With chilly glass and window panes
With night coming early and,
Dawn coming late,
And ice in the bucket,
And frost by the gate.
Watch the shadows of bending trees
Which floods the Earth and the Air
As they've done each year
See how pretty nature is
When she ushers winter in.
About this poem
This poem beautifully describes the transition from summer to winter. I wrote the poem before the arrival of winter capturing the essence of nature's transformation. The verses vividly portray the ripening harvest fields under bright sunshine, and the gradual shift towards colder days with wild geese flying by and the rustle of crisp leaves. The poet observes the arrival of winter through changes in the environment - chilly glass and window panes, early nights, late dawns, ice in the bucket, and frost by the gate. The poem celebrates the beauty of nature as it gracefully welcomes winter, with shadows of bending trees flooding the Earth and the Air. It's a reflective piece that portrays the beauty and wonder of the changing seasons. more »
