A yearning for the unattainable

Hajra Khan 1997 (Lahore)

One thing I ask from God
This only do I seek,

More than wealth
More than fame,

Waiting on death
never walking in light,

To entertain my eyes
For I strive day and night,

Seeking His light
All the days of my life,

So that there is no one
No one else in sight

Between the Creator
And His creation

On the day of fright
He will give me shelter

Oh God! will You not save me?
Why, can I not grasp!

The gaze of Your beautiful Face
Oh God! why, can I not clasp!

To be Your favourite?
Ah! that Holy dream, that Holy dream

Had cheered me up as a lovely beam

"Accuracy of speech generates love, peace, and sacredness. It's all about what the heart holds and how it chooses to deposit. I savor dissecting human emotions and penning them down as poems. I am studying Mphil English literature at a prestigious institute in Lahore. Besides writing poetry, I also wrote short stories and Limericks. Nowadays I am practising writing articles for blogs. Moreover, I love baking and cooking. more…
