Waiting Is A Heat Wave

Charles Edward York 1966 (Saigon, Vietnam)

Waiting Is A Heat Wave

Waiting is a heat wave
Beating sweat on my eye brows
As I look to the horizon
For something or someone
Not yet here
The anticipation
Weighs heavy as hot humidity
Pressing down
Making me thirsty
For a cool glass of
Refreshing water right now.

I am soaked with let down
When the wait wastes time
The insidious lie
The false hope
The deception that says
Good things come
To those who wait
Delayed justice is
Justice denied
Growing gray hairs
Offers no luxury to urgency.

Driven to overcome
Makes me persist and endure
Focus is a blue sky
Opening my eyes
Showing me purpose
Moving me forward
Time waits for no one
Seizing the moment
I go after what I need
The relevance of now
Inspires me to go for it!
