You Think

You Think
By Nancy Rodriquez

You think just because it has been months,
I can get you out of my heart,
it is true, I have been stumped,
and tears have shown I have fallen apart,
You think it will all fade away with time,
distance, filled with silence, is music to your ears,
and I can see your point as I write this rhyme,
You think the memory of us will disappear,
You think I will be tired of playing the heartstrings,
and give up fighting for us one day,
though I know we are meant to be from my being,
and I will go about my way,
You think you can do as you please,
instead of putting my mind at ease,
to ponder a second chance,
at our once-budding romance,
You think I can breathe without you,
as if it were that easy,
You have been the biggest part of all I do,
and living without you should be a breeze,
You think you have me defeated,
without a chance of ever kissing you again,
You think life for me has no more meaning,
I am swallowed up in pain,
You think I am  in denial and crazy,
and it is not like this at all,
though the memory of us is hazy,
one look, touch, or kiss, you make the call,
You think our love is impossible to achieve,
If you can take a moment and believe.
