A Poets Prayer
Gerald Logie 1953 (Michigan)
I want so much to write the words
That other eyes may someday read.
If to mankind I can possibly give
Let this wish then be that deed.
Sometimes at night I cannot sleep
The words will occupy my mind.
I know I'll lay awake till morn
Unless I write down every line.
Developing a talent takes time
That it's a gift, I've no doubt
A desire fiercely burning within
Verse by verse comes slipping out
.
Thoughts and ideas, mixed together
Somewhat confusing when they arrive.
To be separated, then fit together
Until on paper, they come alive...
