Nurture vs Nature

I nurtured you to love.

You naturally loved to kill.
A broken wing. A battered thing. So it became a thrill.

I nurtured you to love.

You naturally loved to lie.
A silly fib, a broken rib. you made your brother cry.

I nurtured you to love.

You naturally loved the dark.
A hidden face, an empty space
that once caressed a heart.

I nurtured you to love.

You naturally loved to hate.
Raised in love abundance, vile nature became your fate.

I nurtured you to love.

You naturally loved yourself.
As you wander your darkened path,
and you sit on your highest throne.

I nurtured you to love. you can love yourself, alone.
