Another One Gone

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

The beauty fades, the flower falls
And then the snow comes and covers it all
A mountain of snow from heaven above
Comes down on the back of the Lord that we love

The beautiful red stripes cover the snow
The blood of the Lamb and the sorrow he knows
He came to his own, but by them was rejected
He was killed by the ones that He loved and protected

Now glory has risen from the ashes of fall
It melted the snow that covered it all
Now flowers appear on the freshly mown lawn
The summer sun burns them and now they’re all gone

Another twist but not a turn
When autumn comes we start to learn
The school is open; class is in
So now the lesson can begin

Look out the window at the leaves
The colors changing on the trees
But now the leaves are turning brown
And they all fall down to the ground

Wintertime has come again. The End
