As Day turns to Night

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

I came down to the ocean Lord,
To see what you would show me.
I don’t know what I’m looking for
Or why you’d want to know me.

I gird my waist with a belt of truth,
God’s Holy Righteousness;
And spend my time, my head pressed to,
His faithful loving chest!

When God reveals his words to me,
I try to stop to write.
But even when I cannot see,
The Lord can give me light.

I know my Father loves me;
He gave his Son for me!
Now even as the darkness falls,
My Jesus comforts me!

How great the Father’s love,
That I might know his saving grace!
So now as Jesus carries me,
I finally see his face.

I watch as here for me, He draws,
A line upon the sand;
The waves come crashing in,
But they can’t rip me from His hand!

The seagulls flying overhead,
Make sounds like they are laughing.
But in His arms I have no fear,
I hear God’s angels clapping.
