Hero
Matthew Anderson 1981 (Rhode Island)
Hero
The Pillar Stands Alone
Supporting the of entirety of an edifice
Weight bearing down, more added to compound
When will be too much, to snap it through
The Pillar Stands Alone
With so much time dedicated to the exterior
Never to let anyone see it as worn
as days go by
it’s brace begins to chip and crumble
Even at his demise
would they even take a second to mourn
The Pillar stands alone
Now with a lifetime of burden
to carry all that it did
the pillars no chance to avail
Strong at inception
taking all that it could
But over time of course
it become frail
The Pillar Stands Alone
With never a worry
to know how the Pillar maintained
It was only a matter of time
It was a fateful decision to never inspect
The Pillar collapsed with everyone inside
The Pillar Collapsed Alone
Just in his final days
did he ever find out
Is was only him by himself
all along
I wonder if he knew
that it would be him
alone forever
Would he have stood so strong
as Long
The Pillar Stands Alone
About this poem
About someone who is always lonely even though there is so much around him. All of this around him just goes by with no thought of him. He carries so much of even their weight with his own that no one realizes, when crashes so will they.
