Time

Free verse
Time goes by and I am respectful of it now
It takes its hold on you
Like an ever-constricting bind
I am the rat, and it is the snake

It takes love and life away
It makes you older
But also, wiser my friend
Time is a mystery itself

People change, and so do you, and I
Continents shift in quakes and cracks
Our very earth spins ‘round
And still, Time stays the same
