A Spark

My eyes were stuck in one position
Like two stubbornly frozen spheres.
They could only see a little
As they focused in one direction.

But then a candle flame alighted in
My stomach and the warmth spread to
My heart.
First it melted the frozen heartbeats.

And then it melted my eyes.
Finally I could see
And the tears just slid on by.

About this poem

I wrote this poem because of a thought that came to me while I was sitting outside and looking at the sun. It is a description of that moment when I noticed the nature around me, and strangely it seemed so unreasonably pretty at that time. It was like I had finally come to appreciate the scenery around me. So this poem is based off of that feeling and emotional experience.
