A lovely story to tell

A LOVELY STORY TO TELL

WE STARTED OUT ON A LONG
LONG TRIP, 2100 MILES, MY
LITTLE SISTER IN LAW AND
HER MOTHER WAS GOING WITH
US, MY LITTLE SISTER IN LAW
SAID, CAN I SIT IN THE BACK
WITH MY FEET HANGING OUT?

HER MOM SAID NO- NO MY DEAR
WE’VE A LONG- LONG WAY TO
GO. SHE TOOK THAT NOT THINKING
JUST HOW FAR IT WAS. SHE WAS
GETTING REALLY TIRED ABOUT
100 MILES AHEAD.

SHE SAID I WANT SOMETHING TO
EAT ARE WE THERE YET? BY THE
TIME WE GOT TO CALIFORNIA SHE
WAS SAYING I WANT TO GO BACK
HOME AND NEVER-EVER TAKE
A LONG TRIP LIKE THIS AGAIN
I DON’T LIKE TO ROAM.

IT WAS QUITE A WHILE BEFORE WE
WENT BACK HOME. I’M AFRAID SHE
LEARNED QUITE WELL HOW TO ROAM
BEFORE WE GOT BACK HOME
