Analysis of Money, greed, war

What you see is what you get,
if you take more, you will regret
the greed you show will seal your fate
a gateway drug to fear and hate

wanting, needing, fighting, breeding
evermore this world is bleeding,
infected by the ills of man,
greed and lust defile the land,

money is the path to hell
the root to evil, the last farewell
but if you believe that this is true
there may be no hope left for you

money is just uniform trade
a way to share in all we've made
its greed that sows the seeds of hate
conceiving wars that we create

Wars on land, wars on sea
wars in cities, towns and streets
war on drugs and wars on terror
meaningless wars that last forever

E.S. Conway

A poet by proxy of therapy. Her works (with only a couple of exceptions) are comprised of poems written in a form of therapy diary, they served for several years as an aid to dealing with situations that may or may not be within the poems themselves. This is also the reason for so much rhyming; though not necessary for poetry, it was part of what made poetry therapeutic for her and so is an almost certain constant. more…
