What remained of a forelon smear,
Dark black deepset eyes and gentle locks of hair,
You guided my life, you protected me every now and then,
From the outside world: people, harsh and shrewd
You saved my day for me when others were all the more...

Festival of lights ahoy! as the darkness falls,
Soot black night vanishes when we light inspite,
Beautiful diyas that dazzle the night...
Overheard anywhere and everywhere we go,
Prayers on the street, crackers lighting up the sky in sweep...
