I'm an 18 year old boy who's struggled with letting go for as long as I can remember. For someone who hasn't lived that long, I've seen more than children ought to see. My father commited suicide two months before I was born. I was raised by a strong and confident mother who later fell in love with the wrong man. In many ways, I copied both my father's actions and pasted them on my life path... Becoming addicted to cigarettes as of recently and hating myself so much so that suicide seems to be the answer. However, through all of this poetry has been my therapist. I talk to her daily and I don't have to pay. I met her at age 15. She was there when I kissed my first love and she's here now, months after I let go of the first girl who dared to kiss me like my father. I will never stop writing. And I hope my poetry finds its way into soul. My name is Demondré. I write with my second name, passed down by my father, Morné. This is me being as authentic as I can.
