Consequences

My spirit lives in anger
Forgiveness will set it free,
But how to make you notice
The things you cannot see.

In part I want to go back
To how things used to be,
I know that it can't happen
It's clear you must go free.

I ask myself why would you
So hurt one you claim to love.
The truth is not that simple
Your feelings were just sort of.

You don't seem to hurt as I do
I want you to feel like me.
I'll be sorry someday I'm sure
For what I am about to be.

I hurt you to feel better
It doesn't really bring peace.
Seeing your pain hurts me
A hurt that will not cease.

So I will say I forgive you
For being who you are.
But I will not forget this pain
On my heart remains your scar.
