Guilt
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
No matter how wide,
One's smile is.
With exposing,
In the darkest of midnight...
The brightest of whitest teeth.
Done to attempt to hide disguised,
Proof and evidence of their guilt.
Not a smile to practice it,
On a face displaying...
Hypnotic and innocence eyes.
Will change the truth produced.
Or tears made to flow.
Assisted by onions...
Chopped with jalapeño peppers.
And applied to the eyes.
Frequently to dap...
With a monogrammed initialed,
Designer silk handkerchief!
'Your performance?'
'Yes sir.
Yes, Your Honor?'
'One of the most brilliant,
I have witnessed in years.
However...
If you had added,
Some garlic and avocado?
I would not hesitate a second,
To declare your innocence.
And...
Immediately close this case.
For lack of qualifying evidence.
But no!
You have proven yourself thoughtless.
Inconsiderate and selfish.
To believe I would be,
Sitting here not craving the taste...
For a taco.
Or at least...
One or two tortilla chips.
That would satisfy that crave.
How on Earth,
Could you have allowed yourself...
To be that self serving?
And indulgent?
Without taking a few minutes,
To investigate my ethnic background?'
'But...'
'No butts.
Shut up!
Guilty as charged!
