Heavy Sadness

Sadness dances through my veins,
Weighing my body down,
There’s nothing I can do to change
The tears that hit the ground.
I face my fears head on
It doesn’t seem to make me mend
And yet I know deep inside
Sometimes I just want it to end
The fears, the struggle, the hope for more
How fragile this life can be,
I only needed it all to calm
And live what is the best of me.
I long to hold grandbabies close
And whisper stories of old
To watch them smile with trusting eyes
A bit of heaven to behold.
Yet here I am once again
Needing a lift from on high
Sometimes I can see the end
It’s when my tears will be dry.
