Sarah Everard
Although the night is dark,
it isn't very late.
I'm sure it's safe to walk,
I'm not far from my estate.
I shall listen to my music,
As I walk down by the sea,
I'm sure that I'll be safe,
No one will be watching me.
Im looking forward to my shower,
The warm water on my face,
After such a busy day
I long for my own place.
Do I hear footsteps?
Or is it in my mind?
Was that a persons shadow,
Creeping from behind?
I'm sure I'm no longer alone,
But how could that be.
Surely I have the right
To feel my own safety.
Should I start to run,
Or should I just stand still?
Surely they will pass,
Oh I really hope they will.
I can hear a scream,
I realise that it's mine.
I pray that it is heard
Don't end this life of mine.
I just walked from my friends,
Who knew this day would be my last?.
What gives you the right to make me?
A statistic from the past?
