Woman in a victorian dress

I picked it up from off of dusty table top
Staring with great intensity... aghast!
Among a shallow but, haloed attic light
Discovering curiosity in a eighteen twenty two of past
There she was captured in this black of white, oddly faded photograph

With a peering vital sense to grasp
Amid this granulated mysterious background plight
That had once been abandoned but, never forgotten
Revealed a woman in absence of a certain kind
Standing in ancient hoary of Victorian dress looking quite uncommon

Her parasol, crowns over mounds of braided tress
Set the air with some note of notoriety
Underneath was shades and shadows of my aunt
A long, long lost but, greatest of the great relativities
There had been old tales told and many passed along
That she was a woman out of time but, always seen in a pair of denim pants

The years had kept her legend hidden among themselves
But, now with future technologies she will stand out yet again
With pride from behind a very special frame and glass
A treasure on display what once was an empty place of shelves
At home, upon the fire mantles next to kin, pictured in a dress at last

Nighttiger

A fortyish native born all American man. Married twice and for the last time. I have four children; Three daughters and one son that are all over the age of eighteen. I also have two grandchildren; one three years old and one nine months old. Inspired by God, tragedy, life's experiences and then a fairy tale love. I never intentionally set out to write poetry, but "She" inspired me. "She" meaning the love of my life. That love is a passion that after thirteen years still grows stronger each and every day. It eventually had to be put into writing. As I wrote poetry to her, she encouraged me to approach other subjects. Doing so brought me to discover that poetry could wash away the bitter tastes of life (suicide, cancer, and divorce) that were still living like demons inside me. So when poetic therapy brought those impish fiends to a stalemate, I began to experiment more. Creating fictional characters and situations within my works. The support of this online community has inspired me even further to continue to hone my writing skills giving the readers the best that I can offer. Thanks to all you out there in Lulu land. more…
