With Flowers to Grow

After the flowers called Impatience died,
I pulled up the roots that were all dried.
All that was left was a bed of soil
that I watered regardless,
and ever so loyal.
The barren flowerpot I watered anyway
in the hope that flowers
would bloom one day.

A day after rain I came to see
three beautiful flowers coming to be.
They bloomed, tall
and beautiful evermore
as flowers called Impatience,
like the ones before.
It was a miracle from God,
three beautiful flowers
sent from heaven with eternal love.

But one day,
in a fit of rage I could not explain,
I wanted to destroy something
to ease my pain.
The flowers that grew so beautiful
did not soothe my soul.
I was enraged evermore
and pulled them from the soil

Never have I regretted doing such a thing
to something so innocent of anything.
To bring them back, how I wish I knew,
and turn the hands of time,
when they first grew.
God’s beautiful gift
I would love forever,
and cherish
what was sent from heaven.

And still I water the empty bed of soil,
eventhough,
heaven may not bless me
with flowers to grow.
