Wishing on a star.

Back to reality with a bang
my only stimulation
the scenic pictures on my walls
and the clock that interrupts my thoughts.

An overgrown bush that screams for attention
fills me with dismay
depressive thoughts won't go away
hypertension clouds my day.

The walls are closing in
boredom has set in
and even my favourite tunes
fail to lift my mood.

The moon hides away in dense grey clouds
and my pounding heart is the only sound
a reminder I'm still breathing
though I long gave up on living.

And even my belongings
which once bought so much pride
fail to make me happy
in this cold and dismal life.

How I long to hear the ocean's roar
see the moon light up the sea,
join the dots of the stars, in hope and awe,
that will lead me to my destiny.
