Twenty

Write a poem in twenty lines or less
For me, this is hardship I must confess.
To find a way to say what is said
Twenty lines will put this poem to bed.
But this is contest, must have limits,
To get everyone in as space permits.
Ungrateful you! Charge us for biography.
For what sorrow this gentle theology.
But proud and grateful should all of us be.
You publish almost anyone, even poor me.
We buy your books, read our dreams.
But, twenty lines is not enough it seems.
Cover to cover, your books are filled with hopes.
We still could use fifty, maybe sixty lines folks.
To really express all that we have to say,
Of course, short poems is all most have time for today.
Some long poems go on and on,
Those should be gone like a bad, bad song.
Each month hereafter please, give us a chance,
To complete our song, to finish our dance.
