the morning began with light

as the majestic morning lifts her delicate veil
and the dawn draws her sheer drapery
the anticipation on the shadowed bark faces
gleam in the shimmer of the first light

milds of green and blue and some serene and pink

the scratchy dust grist of the dandelion weed
awake the yoke immense and thicket ochre
before a group that bends and strokes it sober

an over ripen lime color spills like drunk sprites
in green shades - pick around a cadmium clover

a pond is dipped in gesso and painted
with the reflection of a hundred moons

it is a treat and a thrill beyond the cornstalkers
the river benders and night watchmen

it is the morning with light
