The King Of The Forest

He stood there at the forest's edge
His eyes so deep and dark
Yet I could see his wisened gaze
And on his arm a lark
His beard extended from his chin
His face an emerald green
The bark that was his very flesh
Lie under leaves unseen
A stately manner he did boast
He was the King you see
Of all the forest and the woods
And how he stared at me
So I did beg his pardon yes
And asked if I might pass
He tipped his leafy crown to me
Advancing on the grass
He stepped aside and waved a bough
His voice it was the breeze
And he did let me by that day
The King of all the trees
