The golden rule

We mutilate ourselves
for the sake of vanity
we do crazy things
in the name of sanity
We hurt each other
to make ourselves feel better
but wouldn't it be great
if we followed the golden rule to the letter?
Do unto others
as you want them done to you
it's not so very hard
a thing that we can do
You can't care about another
you can't treat them with respect
unless you learn to love yourself
so take some time to reflect
You never know until you try it
and wouldn't it be cool
if everyone around the world
obeyed the golden rule?
