Sometimes The Cereal Gets Soggy

I've been down this road once or twice before
I'd like to think that it's just a detour
But every time it has lead me to disappointment
I try so hard to stay on the right track
But there are so many twists and turns
I should just stay put and wait for the next transit bus

As a child I would sit at the table
Watching cartoons with my bowl of cereal
The cereal would be so good that I would fill the bowl
My eyes were always bigger than my stomach
And so I'd eat it and watch my toons
But sometimes the cereal would get soggy

And now I'm here again
Another fork upon my road
The unknown lays before me
As the good life stays behind
Take it in too fast and there will be no room for more
Try to enjoy it, and well, sometimes the cereal gets soggy

The roads are all the same
Pavement never seems to change
Just the scenario comes and goes
Every time it's the same
So I just walk down the road
And wait to see what happens next

Perhaps I'm taking too much time
Enjoying every last spoonful
Savoring every bit of sugar coated milk
Fishing around the healthy for the marshmallows
I'm taking my time and now
The cereal is absorbing the milk

Who wants to eat soggy cereal
We just throw it away and get a new bowl
And when the milk runs out we wait
Anticipating the moment we open the next box
To watch it glisten in the milk
Until the cereal gets soggy again
