Pages away from you

This book is filled with thoughts of you,
of nights that died in morning’s dew,
though now, I’m lost in written daze
and pages away from you.

I turn the page to start anew,
my word’s the wind, to you it blew.
I sail around this theme again
and pages away from you.

I sigh your name, as often do.
I sign it soft and then mine too.
The feeling, few quick marks to lay
and pages away from you.

A poem is a letter, too,
delivering what our lives go through,
a scripted note without a fold
and pages away from you.

I finally draw a verse or two,
on what my heart would have me do.
You couldn’t know for I am here
and pages away from you.

These eyes are soaked in waters, blue.
Like lines on paper, violet hue.
Float back to us, though oceans far
and pages away from you.

Sure, again we’ll find us soon.
Oh, what a satisfying view.
For now I’ll keep this in it’s place
and pages away from you.

Jana Satterlund

I wrote my first poem at the age of 10. Although I enjoyed reading and writing poetry, I didn't truly appreciate it until a few years ago. At 21 I started really writing for myself as a release. It has surely become my escape, my late night ritual, my confession. I feel honored to be a part of this community where so many talented poets come together. I appreciate any sentiment and am elated at the opportunity to comment on so many beautiful pieces! more…
