Overcoming Disabilities

There was no flip of a coin no roll of the dice
I was not given the option to be born twice
As if anyone would choose to be this way
Dealing with my problems every day

Uncontrolled moodswings hyperactivity
Obsessive compulsive extreme anxiety
Claustrophobic and Panic Attacks
With migraine headaches those are the facts

Born with these issues and it tore me apart
What a way for my life to start
In and out of hospitals for years
Suicide attempts bringing family to tears

Hundreds of pill medications to take
Dreading every moment that I was awake
Take this take that lets see how it gos
Unless you try it how do you know

For there's one thing you must know about pills you see
For each person they work differently
What doesn't work for him might work for you
So here try these let's see what they'll do

They might work they might not
But what choice have you got
You might live you might die
But you might as well try
For with trial and error you'll soon find the right one
That's if you don't die first or give up and run

Cause finding the right foundation brought on many complications
For there were many combination's of so many medications
Which made the odds of my right meds getting found so small
That I'd be lucky if they ever found them at all

For years I went through this trial and error
From doctor to doctor a life full of terror
This one allergic that one too tired
This one flat-lined that one too wired

Thousands of pills I've taken so far
A hundred different meds and none up to par
My only success is that I'm still alive
Lucky as hell my liver survived

Just long enough for the right med to be found
And who would have guessed it a plant in the ground
The doctor gave me a pipe and said it would help me
Here smoke this its called THC

It will ease my pain and calm my anxiety
And with a firm look on his face said try it and see
It's now been seven years since I took my first toke
Since my doctor prescribed me what I thought was a joke

And who would have guessed it worked like a charm
Better than any pill I received at the pharm
Its been seven years and I'm still here
No more hospitalizations no life full of fear

My depression is better no random rage
Control of my emotions at the highest stage
Migraine headaches a thing of the past
Obsessions decreased no panic attacks

And who would have guessed such a cure would exist
That could help ME live life to the fullest
My medication was found I could finally see
And enjoy my life no longer scared to be me
