Only What I Can Handle
Had Life squeezed harder
I would be nothing but pulp,
swimming in a sea
of my own fluids,
everything gone
except the sticky strands
of what I once knew,
what I once thought.
Life had to ask himself,
“What could she do,
stuck in such a state?”
and loosened his grip,
his fingers leaving marks,
indents that would never fade.
Life, instead, stripped the protection
from my bruised flesh,
leaving me scarred and scared,
Alone.
What does one do with an orange
peeled to show its inside?
You feed the hungry people.
