One Day

The pain of the words I can't express.
The emotions I have so long tried to repress.
The thought of losing you brings me distress,
But these words I still cannot profess!

You drift away day by day
As I sit here in a pit of dismay.
You saved my life, I want to repay.
Yet all I can do is out of fear back away.

To see your smile is all I want.
If I made you happy I would flaunt.
But my courage your words do daunt
And these emotions just continue to haunt.

The day these words finally cut through
Will be the day this pain does not accrue.
Instead, I'll finally see your view
When I say the words "I love you."
