On Seeing a Solitary Red Leaf on August 2.

There you were my friend, on this fire-roasted and steam-cooked Monday
already standing alone
Like that new girl in high school with the pink hair and the nosering
Alone at your locker
While the popular clique tittered at you down the hall.
Oh they’ll laugh now, but you, like any good revolutionary
Arrived ahead of your time
Soon cliques will be forming around you
Broadcasting your message to the rest of the emo kids
And then the masses will catch on
Praising your foresight, your epic sweep, your vision.
They’ll follow you anywhere, desperately waiting for you
to announce the next big thing.
