Not Just Any Old Man
He walked with kings, because he was one.
But long gone was the time when he was.
And long changed is the place where he is.
These days, he is an old man, but not just any
Old man. He is one who loves taking long walks
On weather-friendly mornings and nights. He is
Wont to going "incognito" wearing tennis shoes
And baseball cap.) He is one "decreed"(by law)
To have a "Fed" always "by his side."
In these long walks, this old man, at times,
Would wander into someone else's yard.
He'd be admonished, and then, stubbornly
Would pick some flowers, saying (with a big
Smile on his face and much love in his eyes),
"Well, these...I'll give to my darling wife."
Not just any old man is he that was much
"In the news"--for the world, when he was king.
Not just any old man is he that is "neither
Here nor there" in this world--now, where he is
Addressed respectfully, "Mr. President"...still.
