Man of the world

He, above the rest; kind and generous
Stands like a tower, proudly eminent.

His forms have yet not lost all,
The original brightness, appears no less than a Seraph
Eager to lift the world with one hand.

Suddenly, he withdrew like a snail
Now reappears as when the sun, new risen
Looks through the misty universe
As from behind the moon, in dim eclipse
Vista his beams wider, shine above them all.

Cast signs of passion, on keening crescendos
Stretch his arms longer, to every child of need
Feed and dole innumerable thousands.

Lift his head countless numbers
To the endless wail of widows
Caught in the shards between one hunger and the next
Upon the racks of this tough world

God bless the prince;
He lives on this side of the hills,
Like an empire at its zenith.
