Kilo (The Long Haul)

Cut it up
and break me off a piece .
Hot wired
and highway drivin'.
Days and nights
go by like nothing now.
It's been weeks
since I set out ridin'
and I still can't find sleep,
but I'm not tirin'.
I'm not really going in circles
but I'm right back where I started from.
Bingin' on a bender.
Adrenaline rushin' me on.
The motor's as hot as plutonium.
I'll be the one bustin' the fuzz.
Cappin' 'em up and I'm gone.
"What it was, brother."
Now, what's wrong?

Just like me,
the world is changin' it's shape.
Speeding along
the cracks in her face.
I've been most everywhere
in this God-forsaken
land of waste
and I still can't find my place.

That's ok,
I'll let you have the lane.
I'll catch up with you later, Kandy Kane.
Fillin' her up at the pump
with hi-octane.
Bustin' her chops back at the lodge
to the break of day.
Still tryin' to memorize
every exit sign
as if they were all mine
to inhabit, inhibit. . .
as if they were my own,
but I don't have a home
aside from my four hundred horse stage-coach
and the windin' open road.

Sleepin' at the wheel,
I'm truly out of control
barrelin' down a 6% slope.
Fix up a bump
at the truck-stop
and loosen a load
in some Tennessee lot lizard
starvin' for blow.
I likes me some country-folk
(barefoot and full of holes).
Hoistin' you up on my rig,
you dig?
I got some slop for my pot-belly pig.
I'll take the seat in the stall
and you can bare it all.
Railin' you up against a concrete wall.

At the very least
kick it up to the limit.
(No lights or lock-ups)
You're behind the wheel,
now spin it!
I don't ever know where I'm headed,
but when I arrive
it's never late or early.
I'm always makin' time.
