Hypochondria
Imaginary sickness and morbid melancholy
are symptoms of those who live hypochondriacally.
As reinforcing spiral, they construct a case in mind:
from a minor affliction a major ailment they find.
A search for information to explore a malady
is sufficient grist for mills of impending tragedy.
A cough from the common cold is perceived as lung cancer.
Medical assurances is denied as the answer.
A small lump in a lymph node is seen as Hodgkin's disease.
Contrary indication renders little to appease.
Psycho-physical illness signals that there's something wrong:
a thought process disorder that drags the body along.
Hypochondriacs exist in constant states of terror
that soon they will surly die from plaque, disease or error.
