House On Fire

I was too late to the scene of the fire.
The firefighters had already rescued you.
Guess I wanted to be the hero.
Guess I won't be.
So I just stood there at the street corner.
Watching remainders of the house fall to the ground.
What has been, and what should have been.
Those are two different things to me.
I was too late to the scene of the fire.
And I've regretted it ever since.
