if heaven is supernal?
Why do we cling to spoil
if heaven is eternal?

Why do we cling to fret
if heaven is unfailing?
Why do we cling to debt
if heaven is regaling?

Why do we cling to lore
if heaven is terrific?
Why do we cling to gore
if heaven is pacific?

Why do we cling to doom
if heaven is auspicious?
Why do we cling to gloom
if heaven is propitious?

Why do we cling to mirth
if heaven is exciting?
Why do we cling to earth
if heaven is inviting?
